Fans Pack Stands for LAG

The parking lots are packed. The dense smell of sweat you immediately inhale burns your eyes. The bleachers are full of students of all grades desperately trying to find the perfect view to watch one of Loyola’s biggest and entertaining games of all time: Loyola Hockey.

Watching our fellow classmates in school transition into their hockey gear ready to take on any opponents ahead of them makes watching hockey much more intriguing. This past Thursday, Loyola went up ahead of one its biggest rivals: New Trier. Students dressed up in all sorts of costumes to rise to the occasion, using gold as the main theme.

The stands were packed and one wrong move could cause an entire row to shake and crumble down. Junior Grace Amatore says “I thought the parking was going to be hard to fit into, until I realized that trying to squeeze into a tiny space for a seat was going to be the hardest thing. It was still a great game to see and I hope to see them again soon.”

Although Loyola lost, it was an intense game on both sides. Loyola had a comeback in the second period and scored two points leaving the final score 2-3.

Loyola’ student section never fails to rile up opponents with chants you can hear from a mile away. Constant nags at New Trier’s players certainly created higher tension not only in the stands, but on the ice where it matters.
