Brunch is the new hottest meals of the day, behind dinner. Everyone is asking each other if they want to grab brunch some time. Why has this new in between meal suddenly become at the forefront of everyone’s mind and honestly what exactly is brunch?

To start it off easy, brunch is the time between breakfast and lunch, hence the name, and it contains food from both categories such as sandwiches, pancakes, eggs, hamburgers, etc. While the people interviewed did recognize that brunch was popular, 37.5% of them never go to brunch. The others do go but do not make it an frequent or part of their regular schedule.

Many people recognize the appeal to brunch saying that it’s better if you don’t want to wake up early and eat breakfast. Even thought these people do not frequent brunch, they do like it because they themselves don’t want to wake up early.

So if many people like brunch even if they don’t frequent it, is there any group in particular that are stereotyped into going to brunch more? When asked, the overwhelming answer was white wealthy females. Whether that is true I don’t know but why do people think this?

The first is obvious brunch is expensive. Talking from personal experience you have to be at least on the middle class if not the upper middle class to go to brunch on a somewhat regular occasion. The white part maybe because being white in some people’s minds is correlate with having more money or that simply people of color see brunch as a “white” thing and therefore avoid it. The final piece is women. The stereotype being possibly that women have more time on their hands therefore can go to brunch in the first place.

Whatever the stereotype and the reasoning behind it brunch is popular. Many people go for special occasions like Easter or other holidays, including myself. It is at the perfect time with all the best food options to choose from. What’s not to love… maybe the price, but that’s all because everyone wants to crunch crunch during brunch.
