100 days without your phone, your TV, or any connection to the outside world. Could you do it? Well, that’s exactly what 17 “houseguests” signed up for when they joined the reality TV show of the summer, Big Brother.
In this show we watch players spend 100 days in a house with people they have never met before. They compete in challenges, and at the end of every week a player will be sent home. We watch players fight for their lives, betray people they’re working with, and overall we get to see just truly how unexpected the Big Brother household is. Whoever makes it to the end wins $750,00.
This year was the longest season in Big Brother history. The players did not disappoint, from a deaf Olympic swimmer, to a farmer, and a college student, we saw a little bit of everything which made the season that much more interesting.
This season started off with a twist, instead of 16 houseguests there were 17. It wasn’t just any extra house guest, it was Cirie Fields, Survivor legend and mother of another house guest, Jared Fields. This was the first time two houseguests had been related inside of the game, and it was safe to say it had a big impact on the house.
Both Jared and Cirie were on different sides of the house feeding information to each other. While this definitely strengthened their game, Cirie Fields stated when leaving the Big Brother house after being evicted that she found it hard to play with her son, and it hurt her game more than it helped. She had to constantly make sure her son did not put her game in danger while also trying to conceal the fact that she had a son.
I thought that she or her son would make it to the final two but was pleasantly surprised when Jag and Matt took the final two. Jag and Matt were pretty close but became extremely close when Matt used a Big Brother superpower (won by playing in a competition) to save Jag. Even though the superpower was kept anonymous, Matt decided to tell Jag he used it on him and ever since then they became close friends and decided to work together.
They befriended everyone in the house and they told everyone the same thing: we are working with you, we will keep you safe. From then they began picking off people one by one. Since there were two competitions a week, they would each win one ensuring that they could decide who got sent home.
This continued for a couple of weeks until they added Bowie Jane to their alliance, and this time for good. The three of them made it to the final two, and in the end it was Jag who made the choice of who would sit next to him on finale night. He chose Matt.
Their friendship had withstood 100 days of backstabbing, arguing, and deceiving. At the end of the season it is entirely up to the jury to pick. The jury is the last seven people voted out of the house.
This year we had two incredible candidates. Matt was the first deaf houseguest to play Big Brother. He had an incredible social game and won numerous competitions. Jag, on the other hand, was seen more as a threat than Matt, but no one could put him on the block because his ability to win competitions was too good. Jag was the first Sikh Big Brother player, and fought for his life in the house after getting eliminated 10-0 before Matt decided to save him.
In the end Jag ended up taking home the $750,000 and was officially the winner of season 25 of Big Brother.
This season was definitely one of the best that I have seen so far, from the house guests to the competitions, it is safe to say this game exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend the next season of the TV show to anyone. It is the perfect show to start summer with, and I will definitely be watching it next year!
