Here at Loyola Academy, Women’s History month is off to a great start. The Women Leaders, By Women, and Women in Stem clubs have been working very hard with Student Activities in preparation for this month.
The Women Leaders have created Motivational Monday and Female Friday posts that have been featured on the Student Activities Instagram and will continue to be posted throughout the month. The Women Leaders also had their bake sale earlier this month, raising money for different associations owned by women. The Women in Steam Club has been creating content, so be on the lookout for any new posts on their Instagram.
“I learned so much from making the posts and I hope people that see them will learn something too,” freshman Molly Wohlfrom, a member of Women Leaders, said.
Of course, there is much more to come. These three clubs are collaborating on a joint bulletin board next to the student center. It will highlight important women and inspiring quotes.
During spirit week there will be an online trivia contest focusing on women and Women’s History month. It will be a fun way for students to involve themselves and become more aware of different women.
Ms. Krein revealed that all of March’s Tuesday Trivia faculty and staff members are women. Only female artists will be played over the loudspeakers this month as well.
Another fun way for Students to Participate this month is the female artist name that tune. It will be on March 26 during flex.
The library has also displayed several books written about women. It’s perfect for anyone interested in learning about a woman that has made history.
A pennant banner will also be going up in the east gym hallway. The pennants have been made by classes, clubs, and teams that wanted to show their support for Women’s History Month.
There are so many great things to come this month, and everyone involved has worked very hard.
“I feel good about everything, I like that we are raising awareness for women and what they have gone through in history,” freshman Valentina Sandoval said.
