Nothing is more exciting than pumpkin spice season at Starbucks. It serves as a signifier for the start of autumn. However, many of the other drinks and treats are overlooked and underappreciated.
This could have to do with people not being willing to venture from the familiar tastes they are accustomed to. Here are some opinions on other items on the menu to encourage you to try something new—or at least educate you on what to avoid.
Iced Pumpkin Chai Latte
“You get it, and it is very refreshing. It tastes like chai with a good amount of pumpkin, not too much, not too little. It smells like cinnamon. They put the cold foam. It’s a 10/10.” – Elle Waite, junior
“It has a great pumpkin spice taste. refreshing and tastes like coffee, but not too caffeinated. It’s so good. 10/10. My favorite fall drink ever.” – Leah Bradley, junior
Racoon Cake Pop
“It’s a 6/10. A little overly sweet because the frosting-to-cake ratio is off. It’s very cute though!” – Sara Santiago, junior
Mummy Cookie
“The cookie is nice and buttery. However, it is a bit crumbly and the frosting has a good amount of sweetness. 10/10 on presentation but 7/10 for overall flavor.” – Sara Santiago, junior
Baked Apple Croissant
“It tastes like a McDonald’s apple pie. It definitely has a strong apple taste. I don’t know if I would get it again. I think there are better menu items. 5/10.” – Katie Mueller, junior
Iced Pecan Oat Milk Latte
“It reminds me of the smell of Home Goods in the fall. The immediate fake aroma of cinnamon, acorns, and pumpkin. This drink manages to taste like that. Would not recommend it. 3/10.” – Jeniah Muñoz, junior
Overall, none of the items on this fall menu were able to match the simple amazingness that is the pumpkin spice latte. Hopefully, Starbucks can make up for it with the winter menu!
