The news is currently filled with stories about the Coronavirus and how we have to stay inside, wash our hands and avoid gathering of large groups. All this can be frightening, and it is important to listen to the public officials when they say these things, but there are also some good things happening in the world to look forward to. It may not be covered in the news, but it’s still coming.

A total solar eclipse will be happening in December. Although it’s far away, it is going to be beautiful and doesn’t happen too often. So make sure you get yourself a pair of solar eclipse sunglasses, and be there on December 14 to see it.

The 2020 Presidential Elections and voting will be happening very soon. Voting may not be a super fun activity, but it is a good way to get out of the house (if it is safe to do so) and do something meaningful.  It is important to vote because this is something that will affect us all, and we now have a chance to have a say in who we want as President.

The 2020 Olympics are going to be held this year in Tokyo. They start on Friday, July 24 and last until Sunday, August 9. The Olympics this year will now have baseball and three-on-three basketball.

A Loyola Academy Senior, Luke Maurer, also qualified for the Olympic trials in June, so make sure to keep an eye out for the swimming events during the trials.

On March 10, the last Ebola patient, a woman from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, was released from the hospital and cleared. UN officials believe that the Ebola outbreak has officially come to an end.

Yes, there are a lot of scary things happening in the world, but there are also good things and things to look forward to. Although we may be stuck inside for a while, we can all try our best to stay healthy and happy. Take this time off school or work just to focus on yourself. Happy e-learning!
