In an interesting matchup between Tom Thibodeau’s physical and defensive-minded Knicks and Billy Donovan’s hot shooting young Chicago Bulls, the Bulls came away with a 110-102 victory.

Lavine and Lauri led the way tonight with a combined 51 points and 9 triples. Each starter hit double digit point totals tonight, and Thaddeus Young added 13 steals, 8 boards, and 8 assists in 31 minutes.

The Bulls were able to minimize turnovers with a team total of 12, four of which came at the hands of Coby White.

Gafford had an impressive five offensive rebounds. 30 of the Bulls’ 42 buckets came off of assists, and the Bulls knocked down five more threes than the Knicks while shooting 32% from deep.

The first half charge from the Bulls was led by Lauri Markkanen. The Bulls allowed Coby White to be the primary ball handler throughout much of the first half, and while Lavine struggled to find his stroke early, Lauri lit up the half and paved the way for a four point halftime lead.

Lavine came on strong in the second half, contributing 17 of his 21 total points in the final 24 minutes. For a team that started the game with two turnovers on two possessions and coming off a heartbreaking loss at the hands of Damien Lillard, the Bulls remained composed and were able to kick their late game woes by finishing off a physical Knicks team with late threes from Lavine and White.

Thaddeus Young’s leadership was evident, and Billy Donovan’s squad looks to make it two in a row vs the Knicks in their impending Wednesday matchup
