A Night of Music and Celebration at the Grammys

Charlotte O'Bryan, Writer

The 64th annual Grammy was a night of fashion, music, and celebration for this year’s top artists, musicians, and performances.

This year’s award ceremony was held at the MGM Garden Arena located right in Las Vegas this past Sunday. Especially for this being the first real Grammy since COVID hit, the press and viewers at home were excited to see what it had in store.

To start on the red carpet, nominees strutted looks from Armani Prive, Versace, Prada, and more. According to Vogue, celebrities took the liberty in choosing their outfits for the night, leaving a wide variety of colors, patterns, fittings, and fabrics.

My favorite look of the night had to be Oliva Rodrigo in a stunning Vivienne Westwood gown. It was simple but fit her body beautifully and she matched it perfectly with a bold lip and a strong wing.

Going onwards to the rewards and performances of the night, there were surprises to the viewers and nominees themselves. Artists such as Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, and BTS had live performances. BTS’s performance was amazing to watch and I loved inspiration from 007 along with using their song “Butter.” Their choreography was amazing and it was one of the best performances of the night.

Lil Nas X also had quite the performance alongside Jack Harlow and used great stage backgrounds and dancers to get everyone energized for the next set of awards.

I think the most expected award of the night was Olivia Rodrigo winning Best Pop Vocal album, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Solo performance. Her popularity has skyrocketed since last year, and her new album clearly showed she has what it takes to be successful and a three-time Grammy winner.

Other big winners included Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open” for Song and Record of the Year. Jon Batiste wrapped up the night winning Album of the Year for his work We Are

This year’s Grammy awards was a great way to recognize this year’s artists and their dedication to continue their passion and show the world their amazing talents.
