Defense Wins Championships

Loyola Academy continues to dominate its opponents. Loyola is 8-0 getting ready to face their biggest competition in the Catholic high school league: Mount Carmel high school, this Saturday, October 22.  Currently, Loyola is ranked #2, behind #1 Mount Carmel. Loyola Academy totals 352 points in all eight games.

Offensive wins games, defensive wins championships. Some might say the Ramblers dominance should be credited to the touchdowns and offensive plays. That is only one half of the whole, though.

As the Ramblers head into their last regular season game and look forward to playoffs, defense is working hard to make this all possible. Ramblers defense is a brick wall powered by many players.

Linebacker Colin Scheid, leads the Rambler defense with the greatest total of 32 unassisted tackles. Johnny McGuire with 17 UT, Jack Weroska with 12 UT, Rocco Izzo with 16 UT, Emmett McCarthy with 16 UT, Brooks Bahr with 12 UT, Gabe Gyorgy with 15 UT and Ty Ottoson with 14 UT. Besides these eight players, many more defenders contribute to the dominance.

Defenders McGuire, Wetoska, Hogg, Gyorgy, Devine, Ottoson, Konovalov McGovern and more total 15 passes broken up.

Loyola Academy’s defense consists of many prospective college football players. Tune in to tomorrow’s game Saturday, October 22 at 1:30 pm on Hoerster field to watch #1 Mount Carmel face #2 Loyola Academy for the CCL championship game.
